After the passing of Tamara Orlova’s partner, Joe Alvarez, Tamara founded the DAFTAs as a tribute to his unmistakable sense of humour. The DAFTA’s showcase a range of talented filmmakers and their award-worthy spoofs of BAFTA-nominated films! This particular event was a social affair held at Christabel’s, where we were joined by Tamara herself amongst many other people in the industry.
With many familiar faces under the same roof, this was the perfect opportunity to network, have a glass of bubbly and enjoy the canapes. With spectacular company, what is more, to love?
With the night running smoothly, later on, Tamara announced that earlier this year DAFTA’s was caught up in a stir with someone trying to use their name in the media. Without any further questioning, Tamara thought it was only right to trademark the name “DAFTAs”. Some spectacular news for someone who has worked incredibly hard for the award ceremony.
With 2022’s DAFTA’s soon approaching, all shortlisted films will also be screened at the Brighton Fringe on the 10th and 15th of May.
