Met Gala 2023 Red Carpet: Best Dressed & Who wore what

The Met Gala, which is an annual fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, has a long-standing tradition of choosing a theme that sets the tone for the night’s festivities and red carpet-looks. The theme typically reflects the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition, which is unveiled during the event. This year was a homage to the late Karl Lagerfeld, who helmed luxury fashion houses such as Chanel, Fendi and his own Karl Lagerfeld eponymous brand.

Since the first Met Gala in 1948, the theme has evolved over time. In the past, the themes have been inspired by eras, cultures, designers, and even art movements. Some of the most memorable themes from recent years include “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” in 2018, “Camp: Notes on Fashion” in 2019, and “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” in 2021. It has also always been a platform for artists, designers, and celebrities to showcase their interpretation of the theme and push boundaries in fashion.

Monday night’s star-studded event saw many of the biggest names in entertainment, fashion, and sports walking the red carpet. Fans & the rest of the world eagerly awaited the arrival of their favourite celebrities, watching to see what they were wearing and who they were with. So here are the highlights:
