Pret A Manger launches its biggest menu in four years with over 20 flavoursome new Spring items. Last month I was lucky enough to preview the new menu before its official launch.
Known for freshly prepared and tasty food, Pret a Manger is expanding its menu. The new seasonal menu includes a selection of fresh salads and delicious sandwiches inspired by cuisines from around the world.
With the Coronation, the menu features a new category of vibrant and loaded bloomer sandwiches including the Coronation Chicken Bloomer (there’s a veggie egg version too), in time for King Charles III’s Coronation on 6th May.
The menu features a variety of salads to suit every taste, at the launch I opted to try the Korean-Style Chilli Chicken Salad, a BBQ-spiced British chicken dish with brown rice and quinoa, edamame, and refreshing Korean-style slaw on a bed of spinach, finished with an egg and a pot of spicy chilli and lime dressing. I also had the Vietnamese-Style Prawn Salad with king prawns, rice noodles, carrot and mooli slaw, purple cabbage, cucumber, and spinach.
If you are looking for a vegan option, look no further than the Tamari and Ginger Aubergine Salad, also topped with crispy onions and sesame seeds, and finished off with the all-important tamari and ginger dressing and half a lime.
A hearty line-up of new baguettes, rye rolls, wraps and toasties complete the spring menu of main courses. For the wrap fans there’s a Curried Chickpea & Mango Wrap with roasted garlic chickpeas coated in Pret’s own apricot and turmeric coronation sauce, the Korean-Style Chicken & Slaw Wrap and vegan Korean-Style Mushroom & Avocado Wrap at Veggie Pret.
All these foods sound great for a nice Spring picnic but what are the options for the random cold spring days, this is where the toasties take centre stage. Pret are now offering a duo of new toasties the Spicy Salami Toastie filled with Milano salami, sliced mozzarella, chargrilled peppers, red tapenade and harissa mayo, and the delicious re-vamped Pesto, Mozzarella & Roasted Tomato Toastie.
For puds, I was able to try the delicious Black Forest Dessert Pot. The new menu also offers a mouth-watering, rich Salted Caramel Dessert Pot, and a decadent Chocolate Espresso Cake, ideal for a post-lunch or mid-afternoon pick-me-up.
To drink I enjoyed a refreshing Berry Bliss as well as the Applejito Pret Cooler.
