Graduate Fashion week has always showcased exceptionally talented work of budding young designers, and we’re please to say this year was no different! The event celebrated its 20th year of highlighting the highest standard of collections from BA graduates, while offering the opportunity for support from industry insiders for the most impeccable collections and designers. The prize money probably helps too! A designer we admire at Kay Flawless is Bunmi Olaye, who’s participation in last year’s GFW and has built her successful brand Bunmi Koko, with gorgeous, feminine ready to wear pieces and beautiful couture pieces.
The exhibition stands were a great part of the event, we were able to see the work of the designers from when they began their professional venture into fashion (3 years ago), their portfolio and pieces were available to see so you could imagine the space was filled with press and buyers!
Marissa Owens, University of Central Lancashire, was presented with the Womenswear Award, the pieces were fun and vivacious, so unique yet they still had the classic shapes and cuts of everyday pieces.
Felix Chabluk, Edinburgh College of Art, was presented with the Menswear Award. His pieces were classic, reminiscent of the high end style of Burberry; we loved the high quality look of the garments and the sophistication they illuminated.
