What’s better than a unique cookie brand that is conscious about health and your tastebuds? Nothing! Recently, I got invited to celebrate the launch of TEFF Cookie Company and it was super insightful, to say the least.
TEFF Cookie Company is well you guessed it… a cookie company, but with an appetising twist! TEFF is an ancient superfood grain farmed in Ethiopia which has many nutritional benefits. From the long list of outstanding advantages, the TEFF grain is gluten-free, a strong source of protein, high in fibre and packed full of healthy goodies like iron and calcium.
The launch was held at Karina and Dhariya Choudhrie’s private residence in the centre of London and it was a very opulent occasion to find out more about the brainchild of Jessica and what inspired her to start her ancient grain cookie business.
The founder of TEFF, Jessica Rogers, was inspired to start her journey into the food industry after travelling around Ethiopia in 2018. Of course, when she was on her travels, that is when she was introduced to the ancient grain and ever since that moment, she has been developing her vision to bring TEFF to life through sustainable and nutritional development.

Sustainability is a huge factor that many companies in 2022 have to consider but for TEFF Cookie Company, it means so much more. From the ethnically sourced ingredients used to make the cookies to the recyclable packaging that the cookies come in, the TEFF Cookie Company wants to be able to look after the planet, whilst being the best that they can be and I can certainly agree that they have made a conscious effort to be as eco-friendly as possible with the launch of her brand.
Of course, it wouldn’t be an amazing launch without a tasting session (my favourite bit!) TEFF Cookie Company has 3 delicious flavours; Chocolate Orange, Cinnamon Sultana and Chocolate Date. Each cookie is bursting full of nutrients and yummy goodness which is a match made in heaven (just like the flavour combinations!)
Nevertheless, we went on to try out these scrumptious treats. Each flavour was packed full of the ancient grain Teff amongst many other nourishing goodies which made the tasting session even more exciting. With the first bite I took, I instantly realised it has a very different texture to other cookies- however, that did not throw me off at all. The texture is distinct- not crumbly or soft. The TEFF Cookies are super gooey which is something I’d never found in a superb cookie.
Each flavour pairing was delightful, the Chocolate Date cookie was my favourite. Despite the lack of white sugar content, the dates managed to really enhance the natural cacao flavour and it was so unbelievably tasty.
Next, I went for their ‘Chocolate Orange’ cookie. Though a stereotypical flavour pairing, the taste was definitely not unoriginal. Using the same dark Columbian chocolate in the ‘Chocolate Date’ cookie, the ‘chocolate orange’ was definitely more fresh and fruity. Still exploding with the same astounding chocolate flavour, the orange pieces really help to distinguish the chocolate taste and gave an extra fruity twang.
Lastly, it was the ‘Cinnamon Sultana’ cookie and despite being unsure about the flavours, I went in to try the cookie for myself. To not give too much away, the ‘Cinnamon Sultana’ cookie has an extremely unique flavour that is delish. Alike the chocolate date, the sultana is used to sweeten things up and it definitely did an impressive job. With the spicy but zesty cinnamon paired with the super sweet sultana, the cookie was flavoursome and paired amazingly with a turmeric latte. Side note, the tea (by Teapigs) served afterwards was absolutely to die for and the perfect combination with any of the cookies and bites served.
With the press day celebrating the launch of TEFF Cookie Company, I hope to see the brand at our leading retailers very, very soon. From the ethical sustainability ethos to the delish cookies, TEFF Cookie Company is cultivating the way for the food industry to become more efficient when it comes to eco-consciousness and is inspiring many to invest in themselves, by investing in healthy options.
As it is the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next month, The Teff Cookie Company are partnering up with world-renowned artist Romero Britto for the release of their limited edition gift boxes; With each box featuring one of Britto’s famous designs, this is the perfect way to commemorate the Queen’s 70 years of service and also to try these sustainable snacks! They will be launching on the 30th of May on the Teff Cookie Company website so make sure to keep your eyes peeled.
